Chloe is Two Months Old

The sun was in your eyes... next month we will take your picture later in the day...mommy is learning.

Weight/Size: You weighed 10lbs. 4oz. at your 2 month doctor appointment. You were 22" long and perfect. You are wearing size 1 diapers and both newborn and 0-3 month size clothes. Most of your newborn sleepers are too small on you now.

Sleep: You usually lay down in your crib around midnight and sleep until 5 or 6 in the morning. Some nights we aren't so lucky. We are trying to get you to sleep a little earlier now, but so far you aren't having it!

Movement: You always flip over on the boppy pillow from your tummy to your back. You are beginning to try to roll over both from your tummy to your back and from your back to your tummy when your laying down. You get frustrated most of the time but I know you will get it soon! You haven't stopped kicking those legs and you are lifting your head up all the time.

Communication: You are beginning to make more and more noise. You are starting to grunt and talk to us when you get excited. I love hearing your cute little voice! I can't wait to hear you giggle! You smiled intentionally for the first time yesterday and I will never forget it!

Food: You nurse just about every 3 hours, depending on the day.

Mood: You are going through a crying spurt. Nothing seems to make you happy these days. We are starting to think you may be colic. When you cry, I want to cry. I hope this doesn't last long.

Medicine: Nothing has changed since you were 1 month old, but we are trying to ween you off of the tummy drops. You got your first set of shots at your doctor appointment.

Sweet Remembrances

  1. 1. Our first family vacation to the Florida Keys. You were one month old and already enjoying Key West!
  2. 2. You had your first dip in the Ocean at the beach, followed by about 2 beach trips a week.
  3. 3. You smiled intentionally for the first time :-)
Likes: Being outside, looking outside, staring at the ceiling fan, laying on changing pad, taking a bath, swimming in the pool, going to the beach

Dislikes: laying on the bobby pillow, your pacifier, being held while sitting down

Chloe is One Month Old

Weight/size: You weighed 7lbs 12oz at your one month doctor appointment. You are wearing newborn size diapers and newborn clothes. Some of your newborn clothes are still too big!

Sleep: You sleep most of the day, but you really love to fall asleep in someone’s arms. You refuse to lay in your crib until midnight every night. You fall asleep every time we go for a car ride.

Movement: You are a very active baby, which doesn’t surprise me since you were always  kicking and moving in my stomach! You have been lifting your head up since day one. Sometimes your hands and feet get out of control and we have to swaddle you to settle you down. You move yourself from your stomach to your back when we set you on your boppy pillow.

Communication: You don’t make too much noise, unless you are crying. You have the saddest little cry that goes along with the cutest frown. Your daddy is going to have a tough time saying no to you in the future! You stomp your feet when you are angry or gassy. I can’t believe how much attitude you already have!

Food: You nursed every 3 hours for the first 2 or 3 weeks, and then you went on a growth spurt and wanted to eat at random times closer together. You wore mommy out! You love nursing but you will also chug an entire bottle in less than 2 minutes! I can’t wait to see those chubby cheeks grow!

Mood: You are a very alert baby. When you are awake you just stare at everything and everyone. You always seem so content. But when you have a tummy ache, you are not a happy baby. You scream and cry until it passes. I can’t wait until you start smiling!

Medicine: We give you mylicon drops every feeding since you are having problems with your tummy. You love the taste of these drops and stop crying almost immediately after we give them to you. You get eye drops in your right eye because your tear ducts are too small and your eye gets crusty. You also get a multi-vitamin with Iron, which you hate the taste of.

Sweet remembrances:
  1. Daddy put your first diaper on at the hospital
  2. We brought you home from the hospital on Father's Day
  3. Daddy and Nana gave you your first bath
  4. You had your Hebrew baby naming on July 7th

Likes: Being swaddled, laying chest to chest, being held upright, laying on your tummy, all music, vibrations, taking a warm bath, swinging in your baby swing

Dislikes: Dislikes: being gassy, when your pacifier falls out, being strapped into your car seat

Mommy’s mental health: The first night we brought you home from the hospital, I was set on putting you in your crib in your own room to sleep. I did not know how hard that was going to be for me. You had no problem sleeping in your crib but mommy had a mental breakdown. I was so scared to leave your side. I’ve never felt a love so strong. I cried all night because I didn’t want anything to happen to you. I apologize in advance if I am over protective, but you will understand one day when you become a mother. You look so much like your daddy. I can stare at you all day. I feel so blessed that you were given to me.
